Finland in Space

In Finland, space activities consist of space research, space technology development, and its various applications. The activities involve enterprises, research units, organizations, associations, and ministries. The aim of space activities in Finland is to promote the well-being and competitiveness of the society.
These activities are essentially based on public research and development investments into national and international space programs. International cooperation is at the core of Finnish space activities as the resources of a single small country are not sufficient for realizing large-scale projects.
The first international space treaties were signed in the 1960s, when Finland became a member of the Committee on Space Research (COSPAR). Today, Finland's most significant cooperation partners are the European Space Agency (ESA), the European Southern Observatory (ESO) and the European Satellite Association (Eumetsat).
The Space Directory of Finland is an overview of the space activities in Finland and the operators of the field, including relevant contact information. The Space Directory can be downloaded in PDF format by clicking the link below.
